Robinhood Plans Global Expansion for Prediction Markets Following U.S. Launch
Robinhood (HOOD) is preparing to take its prediction markets product international, targeting Europe and the UK as key growth markets. The trading platform's foray into event-based contracts—where users trade on outcomes like elections or economic data—comes amid surging demand for speculative financial instruments.
"We're definitely looking to offer it globally," said JB Mackenzie, Robinhood's VP of futures and international. Regulatory compliance remains a priority, with the company already engaging the UK's Financial Conduct Authority and other overseas watchdogs.
The MOVE follows Robinhood's partnership with CFTC-regulated Kalshi, a blockchain-based prediction platform. This expansion mirrors the explosive growth of crypto-native competitors like Polymarket, which has processed billions in wagers this year—particularly on the U.S. presidential race.
